[edit] Information
'The Banner of Liberty' is a fictionalized documentary made by Ryszard Ordynski in 1935. This great "epic of the Polish act" presents the history of the struggle for independence from 1905. It is reminiscent of the soldiers of the Legions, their heroic struggles on the war fronts and the ordeal in POW camps. The film shows the moment of regaining independence, the takeover of power by Józef Piłsudski, the most important events during the Polish-Bolshevik war, and then the construction of a new Polish state. The document includes the most important figures of this period, incl. Ignacy Moscicki, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Ignacy Daszynski, Jozef Haller, Jedrzej Moraczewski, Edward Rydz-Smigly. The main character, however, is Jozef Piosudski, and the film, made a few months before the Marshal's death, is a summary of his achievements and an expression of the highest recognition.
